In the context of its maturing traditional wholesale agency business, the client sought to develop a “B2C” growth strategy on the back of its market leading content and brands.
The team’s initial challenge lay in securing board approval for a strategy of vertical integration, and achieved this through an analysis of the key economic and competitive characteristics of consumer media markets – and how these differed from the client’s core business.
In a second phase of work, the team assisted the client in setting out priorities against 3 key interrelated decisions: the choice of Geography, “vertical” segment (such as business news) and media type. Through several iterations of analysis and debate, the team defined a business plan and sequence of actions for market entry, with recommendations for potential partnerships.
